Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to cook or fix something healthy but ran short on ideas for healthy recipes? Well, I have composed a list of some great healthy recipes to aid you along in your diet food plan. I divided them into categories to make them easier to navigate.  Most of these healthy recipes can be made in advance. Here are some substitutions you can use for these healthy recipes for your diet plan.

Substitutions for Healthy Recipes:

(This substitute approximately equals 1 egg in recipes. Use only in baking healthy recipes.)

Egg Substitute
1 teaspoon tapioca flour
1/2 teaspoon potato starch flour
1/4 teaspoon xantham gum
1/8 teaspoon agar agar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder (non-aluminum)
2 tablespoons water

Salt as a flavor enhancer
black pepper
garlic
onion powder
mustard powder
paprika
red pepper
lemon juice
vinegar
wine (not cooking wines)

Oil, for cooking interchangeable:
canola oil
light sesame oil
olive oil
peanut oil (adds some flavor)
rice bran oil
safflower oil
soy oil

Note: The burning temperatures of different oils, butter, and margarine vary for these healthy recipes.

Oil, for salad, flavored
almond oil
Asian sesame or dark sesame oil (mix with an unflavored oil)
hazelnut oil
olive oil (use virgin)

Oil, in baking l tablespoon
= 1 1/4 tablespoons butter
= 1 1/4 tablespoons margarine
= 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, in cake healthy recipes

Note: Use these oil substitutions only for small amounts, up to a few tablespoons. If substituting olive or other strong oils in baking, add a few drops of mint to mask the pungency; the baked goods will have a mint flavor.
