Say What!
I’m too fat! Burning fat off is too hard! I’ll never lose this weight! Why does chocolate have to taste so good? Does this sound familiar? These are just a few of the thoughts that went through my head before starting my diet food plan. After trying and failing at losing weight and burning fat so many times with different diets, it got to the point where I thought I could never be slim and fit again.
Telling myself that burning fat was just to hard or that I had three kids within four years or any of the excuses I would use were just limiting beliefs that kept me from achieving what I wanted. That being a beautiful body again! After reading many books I realized that I needed to focus on what I wanted instead of the excuses I used to hold me back. Self talk is something we all do. Those little thoughts that run around in our head and can be very critical at times. Especially to ourselves. Being a failure when it came to losing weight and burning fat was a limiting belief I had to change to accomplish my goals.
It’s always been my choice!
The reason we sometimes struggle with losing weight and burning fat is because we have strong feelings, concepts and beliefs of limitation in our mind that works against us. If we believe it’s hard to lose weight, hard to burn fat or struggling with diet plans is always going to be like this for me. Then we think we will never be able to get out of this condition.
What is the number one reason we struggle with weight issues? It’s us. Our mindset is why we struggle with weight. And unlike or abilities, available resources or opportunities, our mindset is completely within our control to change things for the better.
Being aware of those thoughts and making a conscious choice to pay attention to what I would think and say was a turning point in my life for successfully burning fat. As I replaced the thoughts that I was not good enough, I would always be fat, burning fat is impossible for me and no one would want me with thoughts of I can and will lose this weight, I am lovable and I am desirable, my self esteem increased big time! We must realize that thoughts are neutral in nature and only take on the meanings we give them. If we give our thoughts a positive meaning it makes it easier to achieve our goals. If we make them negative then we develop beliefs that keep us limited, trapped and stuck in repeating patterns of failure. As was the case with me when it came to my weight loss issues.
By choosing to change my self talk to conversations that better served my goals for losing weight, burning fat off and toning my muscles, I was better positioned to see these thoughts become a reality in my life. Before going to bed each night I would repeat my goals to myself before falling asleep and then again as I awoke. Several weeks of this and I established a better attitude about myself and a new belief system that eventually led me to accomplish my goals of burning fat off for good and achieving a lean and fit body.
